Privacy Policy
Slang Translator, published by ZeroExcel. Effective date: 24 October 2026.
This policy explains what the Slang Translator Chrome extension does with your information. The short version: the text of the pages you read stays on your device, and we only keep what is needed to run your account, your subscription and your optional dictionary sync.
1. What stays on your device
- Page text. The extension reads text on pages you visit so it can find slang. This happens locally in your browser. Page text, your browsing history and the addresses of the sites you visit are never sent to us or to anyone else.
- Settings, custom dictionary and usage counts. Your preferences, your custom terms and simple counters (for example how many terms were translated) are stored in your browser's local extension storage. Uninstalling the extension removes them.
2. Information we collect if you create an account
An account is optional. You need one only for Pro and for syncing your custom dictionary across devices.
- Email address and password. Sign-in is provided by Google Firebase Authentication. Your password is handled by Firebase; we never see it or store it. Firebase also sends verification and password-reset emails.
- Subscription information. If you subscribe, we store your email address, your subscription status (for example active or cancelled), your Paystack customer code and payment reference, and timestamps, so we can unlock Pro for you.
- Custom dictionary entries. If you are signed in and add your own terms, those terms and their meanings are stored on our server linked to your email so they can sync between your devices.
3. Payments
Payments are processed by Paystack on Paystack's own checkout page. We never receive or store your card or bank details. Paystack tells us that a payment succeeded, failed or was cancelled, together with your email address and a payment reference.
4. Service providers
- Google Firebase (sign-in): policies.google.com/privacy
- Cloudflare (our servers and database): cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. Cloudflare may process technical request data such as IP addresses to operate and secure the service.
- Paystack (payments): paystack.com/privacy
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.
- We do not use analytics or advertising trackers in the extension.
- We do not use your data for anything unrelated to running the extension, and we do not use it to judge creditworthiness or for lending.
The use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
6. Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account, subscription and dictionary data while your account is active. To delete your account and the data we hold about you, email umaradams041@gmail.com from the address on your account. We will delete it within 30 days, except records we are required to keep for legal or accounting reasons. Data stored in your browser can be removed by uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage.
7. Security
Connections to our servers are encrypted, sign-in tokens are verified by Firebase on every request, and payment notifications are verified with a cryptographic signature. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
8. Children
Slang Translator is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
9. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Significant changes will be mentioned in the extension's update notes.
